Courses: Texas LTC Certification

Texas Long-Term Care Certification Catalog

Special Attention Required! The state of Texas has special course method requirements for insurance continuing education. The courses available in this catalog are approved as self-study courses. Prior to purchasing a course, you should be aware that to renew your insurance license, producers must complete at least 12 hours (50% of their required CE) in certified classroom or classroom equivalent courses. You may only complete up to 12 hours of your continuing education with self-study courses.

Training Requirements

Initial Certification Requirement:
Texas approved 8-hour NAIC Partnership training course.
Resident Producers:
Texas requires that licensed resident producers take a course that has been approved by the Texas Department of Insurance. It does not have to be approved as continuing education, but can be.
Non-Resident Producers:
Texas has adopted training reciprocity for non-resident producers if they are licensed in their home state, the home state is a Partnership state, and the producer takes a comparable course in their home state. If the home state is not a Partnership state, the producer can meet the requirements by taking a qualified 8-hour Texas NAIC Partnership course. Please note: training in one of the original 4 Partnership states of California, Connecticut, Indiana or New York does not qualify for Texas’s training requirements.
Refresher Certification Training:
Updated June 27th, 2013: Texas requires a 4-hour course to be taken by the end of each CE cycle (instead of every 24 months) and it must be approved as Continuing Education (CE) and CE must be issued. A non-resident will be deemed to satisfy the requirements if they are licensed in their home state and their home state is a Partnership state. If the home state is not a Partnership state, the producer can meet the requirements by taking an 8-hour Texas NAIC Partnership course. This training requirement is for both resident and non-resident producers.

What do the Version A and Version B mean?

LTC renewal training must be completed every 2 years. Most states will not allow the same CE course to be repeated during a single compliance period or the subsequent compliance period. In an effort to ensure you can always earn CE for our programs, we provide two versions of the 4 hour that you can alternate between. To avoid any limitations in your resident license state, we strongly advise that you alternate between versions in order to ensure you can earn CE credit towards your license renewal. Please refer to your continuing education transcript to see which course you have taken within your current compliance period. If you are still unsure about which course to take, check your history under "My Courses" or contact us and our friendly staff will help guide you on what to select.

If you have never taken a course with us before or if your last course was completed in the classroom, choose Version A.
