Initial and Ongoing LTC Training Required!
As part of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, states must assure that producers selling Partnership policies receive training and demonstrate an understanding of Partnership policies and their relationship to public and private coverage of long-term care.
Therefore, most states now require that producers complete initial and ongoing (refresher) training prior to selling, soliciting, or negotiating a Partnership policy. In addition, many states are also implementing training requirements as they adopt the NAIC Long-Term Care Insurance Model Act. These states require producers to complete specific training prior to selling, soliciting, or negotiating any LTC insurance policy (whether it be Partnership or non-Partnership policy). In fact, some states are implementing these training requirements without implementing a Partnership program.
